Casio's Exilim EX-Z11 point-and-shoot looks good in black
Regardless of what vivid color tries to replace it, black is still the new black when it's all said and done, and not too many gizmos look better on the dark side that Casio's Exilim EX-Z11. Sporting an ebony brushed-metal finish, this compact point-and-shoot screams sexy while packing a fairly respectable feature set to boot. Inside you'll find a 7.2-megapixel CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom, auto / "manual" focus options, 2.6-inch LCD monitor, SD flash card slot, anti-shake DSP to reduce blurring, up to ISO 800, and a rechargeable Li-ion battery. While there's no hard release date that we can scrounge up, the 3.76- x 2.39- x 0.77-inch Z11 should run users around £299 ($589) whenever it lands.

I've had a couple of Exilim's. My recommendation: buy a Cannon. You'll get better build quality and picture quality.
All Casio is good for is caculators and musical keyboards.
I remember listening to a radio program where the guy said never buy a camera from a company where there primary business is to make watches and alarm clocks.
I did have a Z55. Battery life was outstanding. The camera was very fast to start up and take a picture, though continuous shooting non-existent. Image quality below par, colours way too saturated, resolution disappointing, resulting in cartoon like pictures. I switched to Canon Ixus and found this to be a far better camera regarding picture quality.
It's wierd that you mention that the camera had no set release date and the price to be around $500+. But i bought the same camera (7.2 MP, 3x optical, with anti-shake) from Costco on November of 2006 and the price was $199. The camera is black and is the exact same camera that is displayed in the picture.
The camera has been good and the picture quality is livable, but one of my friend's canon 6MP camera take way crispier pictures than my Exilim.
I'm agreeing with the above poster. I have the Casio Exilim EX-Z70. It looks exactly the same, and its feature-set seems identical. http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Exilim-EX-Z70-Digital-Optical/dp/B000FKIJUI is its Amazon page. I'd highly recommend it, especially for just $209.
it's funny that this is supposed to be $589 when the Leica version (C-Lux 3) is supposed to be $499 when it launches. I'd tag this a little closer to $449 since the Lumix versions of the Leicas are cheaper in general.
Hey someone has to say something nice about the Exilims! I've had a couple and honestly they've both been as good as any comparable Canon or anything else for that matter, and I stress comparable. The build quality is just fine and they've always been at least as pocketable as any other camera. Pic quality was on the decent side, admittedly not the absolute best. However, I can't believe the price of this thing is right. 589 bucks?! I'd definitely be getting the Canon TX-1 for less money!
This product has been on sale since Christmas last year. We were selling them for about $299 AUD (equivalent to $241 USD).
Sorry Engadget, this isn't news. There is also a silver and maroon version of the camera. There's no release date for it because the product has been shipping and selling since 2006.
Even the 10.1MP version of the camera has been released and is selling - http://binglee.com.au/Product.aspx?id=1214 . The EZX1000BK has a 2.8" screen, though.
